Who We Are

LOCATING SERVICES - UTILITIES PROTECTION CENTER

Do you need water and/or sewer lines located in DeKalb County? Locating Services works with the Georgia Utilities Protection Center to provide anyone who calls needing locations of water and sewer lines in DeKalb an accurate on site location.

Remember, you are responsible for any damages that occur if you dig without calling first. The State of Georgia Dig Law says:

25-9-13.
(a) Any person who violates the requirements of Code Section 25-9-6 and whose subsequent excavating or blasting damages utility facilities or sewer laterals shall be strictly liable for:

(1) All costs incurred by the facility owner or operator in repairing or replacing its damaged facilities; and
(2) Any injury or damage to persons or property resulting from damaging the utility facilities and sewer laterals.

By calling 1-800-282-7411 and providing an address in DeKalb, a work ticket will be produced that will require a response by our department. Typically we can locate the water lines within 48 hours after receiving the ticket. Sewer lines are harder to locate and may require a visit to our Technical Services department for a map that shows the location of the sewer in the area.
