Avondale Water Storage Tank

The repainting of the Avondale Water Storage Tank, located at 3250 Covington Highway (behind Patillo UMC), in Decatur, began on November 14, 2006 and will continue on through April 2007.  The scope of this project includes but is not limited to: sand blasting, recoating and repainting (interior and exterior) of the water storage tank. 

During this process the tank area will be contained at the work site to address environmental concerns. Work on this project will not interfere with DeKalb County’s ability to provide water services to its customers.  This repainting project will help to prolong the life of the water distribution system.

DeKalb County has entered into an agreement with Classic Protective Coatings, Inc. to perform this tank renovation project.  Onsite inspections and construction management services are being provided by Metals & Materials Engineers.
