Illegal dumping is any unauthorized discharge of nontoxic substance
into the sewer collection system. With the support of Senate Bill #568
DeKalb County has a zero tolerance for illegal dumping.
How to identify illegal dumping:
- Trucks discharging unknown substance into manholes in residential
neighborhoods.
- An interceptor full of fats, oils, and grease after having it pumped
less than 30 days prior
- Hauling companies that offer their services for significantly less
than competitors.
- Foul smells with no apparent explanation.
- Fats, oils, and grease residue in areas not commonly known for
discharges.
If you suspect illegal dumping, do not approach the individual; call
DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management at 770-621-7200 with
the location, a description of the vehicle and tag number if available,
or email us using this form. ALL REPORTING IS ANONYMOUS.
