The Pole
Bridge Wastewater Treatment Plant, located in southeast
DeKalb County, has a capacity of 20 million gallons
per day (MGD). The biosolids produced by the treatment
process are disposed of on an adjoining land application
site. In 1993, Federal regulations were revised
to establish new criteria for sludge digestion prior
to land application. The existing aerobic digesters
met the new standards up to 6-8 MGD. Construction
of additional aerobic digester capacity began in
February 2001 and was completed in 2002 at a cost
of $12.5 million.
