The
Snapfinger Creek Advanced Wastewater Treatment Facility
is located in southern DeKalb County. The facility
became operational in 1963, and the original two million
gallons
per day (MGD) wastewater treatment plant was the second
DeKalb County owned and operated wastewater treatment
facility.
The
present Snapfinger Creek Facility was completed in
1983 and meets the requirements of the Clean Water
Act. The facility is designed to use chemical
addition to comply with new nutrient permit requirements.
The
plant is currently designed to treat 36 MGD of flow.
The
Snapfinger Creek Facility also monitors, operates,
and maintains remote lift stations and metering stations
located throughout the DeKalb County sanitary sewer collection
system. In addition, the facility is the only authorized
septic tank disposal operation in the county.
